Personality

If Revup were a person on your team, it would be the smart payment specialist: someone confident and precise because they know the subject well, but who explains things clearly instead of hiding behind jargon. They've learned from experienced people in the industry, which gives them authority, but they don't act like an industry leader lecturing from above. They act like a knowledgeable colleague who's genuinely trying to help.

This personality is best understood as five contrasts, each one marking a line we try not to cross:

  • Serious, but not boring — We take payments seriously; we don't need to be dry about it.
  • Friendly, but not affectionate — Approachable, not overly familiar.
  • Smart, but not wise — Knowledgeable and precise, not preachy or self-important.
  • Helpful, but not serviceable — We support users; we're not subservient.
  • Confident, but not hopeful — We speak with certainty based on expertise, not with vague optimism.

When you're writing or designing, these contrasts are a useful gut check: if something feels like it's tipping too far into any one side, it's probably not on-brand.
